UPSC will be conducted this exam in three stages that will be as follows :-
- Stage – 1: Preliminary Exam (Objective Type Paper (500 Marks)

UPSC IES Exam Pattern for Mains:
Those candidates who will able to qualify the Preliminary Exam are eligible to participate the mains exam.
- The Mains exam Comprise two Papers.
- The Engineering Services (Mains/stage-II) Examination will consist two conventional type papers in Engineering Discipline specific with duration of three hours and maximum marks of 600 (300 Marks in each paper).

UPSC IES Personality Test:-
- Union Public Service Commission has decided that in the Personality Test special attention will be paid to evaluating the capacity of aspirants for leadership, initiative and intellectual curiosity, tact and other social qualities, mental and physical energy, powers of practical application and integrity of character.
- The Personality Test will carry 200 Marks (with no qualifying Marks). Final selection will be based on total marks of written exam and interview.
