Minority Scholarship
There are various Scholarships for minorities offered by the Ministry of Minority Affairs (MoMA) with an aim to develop the socio-economic conditions of all the minority communities all over India.
Muslims (Muslim minority scholarship), Sikhs (Sikh minority scholarship), Christians, Buddhists, and Zoroastrians (Parsis) have been notified as minority communities by National Commission for Minorities. Government offers financial support to the candidates who can’t afford the expenses of higher studies at the college/ university level.

About MOMA Scholarship 2022-23
Pre Matric Minority Scholarship 2022:
- Pre Matric Scholarship for minorities will be awarded for studies of the minority community students in a government or private school from class I to class X in India.
- Pre Matric Minority Scholarship will be awarded to students who have secured not less than 50% marks in the previous final examination and the annual income of their parents/guardian from all sources does not exceed Rs. 1.00 lakh.
- Minority Scholarship Pre Matric shall be provided for the entire course. Maintenance allowance will be given as a fixed lump sum amount in the academic year 2022-23.
This scheme covers:
- Course/Tuition Fee is directly credited to the bank account of the school.
- 10 months maintenance allowance is also provided to students.
- Renewal is subjected to a minimum score of 50% in the previous examination.

Post Matric Minority Scholarship 2022:
Post Matric Scholarship will be awarded for studies in a government or private school after class X for classes XI and XII, undergraduate, and post-graduate studies in India. The scholarship will be awarded to the students who have secured not less than 50% marks or equivalent grade in the previous final examination and the annual income of whose parents/guardians from all sources does not exceed Rs.2.00 lakh.
Post Matric Minority Scheme covers:
- Course/Tuition Fee is directly credited to the bank account of the school.
- 10 months maintenance allowance is also provided to students.
- Minority Scholarship Post Matric Renewal is not subjected to any terms and conditions.
Merit-cum-Means Scholarship for Professional and Technical Courses:
This scholarship scheme is for financial aid to the students pursuing professional and technical courses at the graduate or postgraduate level. To receive the benefits of this national minority scholarship, the annual income of the candidate’s family must not exceed Rs. 2.5 lakhs from all sources. Furthermore, he/she must have scored a minimum of 50% marks on the previous final examination.
Minority Scholarship Eligibility Criteria
Students must be aware of all the eligibility norms before applying for any scholarship scheme. The eligibility criteria differ from scheme to scheme. Here we have discussed the eligibility criteria for 03 major minority scholarships. Have a look!
Eligibility Criteria for Pre-matric Scholarship:
- This scheme is only meant for students studying in any of the classes from 01 to 10.
- Students must have secured at least 50% marks or its equivalent in the previous final examination.
- The annual income of the student’s parents/guardian from all sources must not exceed Rs.1 lakhs.
Eligibility criteria for post-matric scholarship:
- This scheme is only meant for students of Class 11, 12, or those pursuing B. Com, ITI courses, etc.
- The candidate must have scored at least 50% marks in the last qualifying exam.
- The annual income of the candidate’s family must not exceed Rs. 2 lakhs.
Eligibility Criteria for Merit-cum-means Based Scholarship:
- This scheme is only meant for those pursuing technical and professional courses in recognized Institutes.
- A minimum of 50% marks in the previous final exam is necessary.
- The annual income of the candidate’s family must not exceed Rs. 2.5 lakhs.
Minority Scholarship Amount
The Scholarship Amount is different for every scheme. Applicants will receive the monetary & other benefits only after the completion of the selection process. The authorities will disburse the reward to the beneficiary’s bank account via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). The reward will cover the tuition fee, admission fee, etc., and other educational expenses as well during the scholarship period. The Amount for various Minority Scholarships 2022 is discussed below.

Procedure to fill Minority Scholarship Form 2022:
- First of all, candidates have to visit the official National Scholarship Portal that is www.scholarships.gov.in.
- On the home page, go to “Central Schemes” section and hit “Ministry of Minority Affairs” link.
- Choose the appropriate link from below provided options:

- Post Matric Scholarships Scheme for Minorities
- Merit cum means scholarship for professional and Technical courses
- Now hit on “Apply” online to fill Application Form.
- Follow the “New User/ Register” option and hit the link to Apply Online.
- Fill out the Application Form with correct details and hit the register option.
- Now applicants will get a registration ID on a new page.
- Then hit the continue button and a Login page will be visible to you.
- Afterward, enter your registration ID no. and date of birth. Hit the login button.
- After the login process, you will receive an OTP on your registered contact number.
- It is mandatory to fill in the bank details given in the Minority Scholarship Online Form 2022.
- Check Online Application at once and press the “Submit” button.

Required Documents:
- Candidate’s Self declaration form for minority scholarship or Minority community certificates
- Candidate’s Self-Declaration of Annual income of family members
- Candidate’s Scanned copies of identity proof
- Scanned Copies of Cancelled Cheque of Bank Account of the student
- Scanned Copy of an Affidavit on Non-Judicial Paper of Rs.5 duly notarized

- Re-check the application form and submit: After completing the above procedure candidates need to submit the national minority scholarship form and take a printout of the same for further use.

Duration of Scholarship
The Minorities Scholarship will be provided for the entire course. However, maintenance allowance will be given for a period not exceeding 10 months only in an academic year.
Minority Scholarship Renewal
The beneficiary can renew his/her scholarship keeping in mind the following points:
- The scholarship can be renewed every year.
- You need to score a minimum of 50% marks in the previous year’s examination to renew the scholarship.
- The officials do not release a merit list for renewal scholarships.
Minority Scholarship 2022 Selection Procedure
Students will be selected for the scheme on the basis of completion prescribed eligibility. Preference will be given to the students from BPL families having the lowest income in the ascending order. The renewal applications would be fully exhausted before the new applications are considered.
