Nationality / Citizenship:
A candidate must be either:
- a citizen of India, or
- a subject of Nepal, or
- a subject of Bhutan, or
- a Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the 1st January,1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
- a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania(Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar),Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

SSC MTS Exam Pattern 2019:
- Paper-1 is an online exam which is objective multiple choice question type.
- Paper-2 is a pen and paper mode of examination which includes a descriptive paper in English or any other language listed in the government policies.
New Pattern Introduced: SSC MTS Exam Pattern
MTS Paper-I Exam Scheme:
- It is going to be conducted online; major changes have been made in the exam pattern of MTS 2019 Exam.
- The number of questions asked in General Awareness and General English Section has been reduced from 50 to 25
- The overall duration of completing the paper has also been reduced from 120 minutes to 90 minutes.
- 120 Minutes are allotted to candidates eligible for scribes.
- There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.
