Some Allowances Provided to CDS Officers
- Uniform allowance:
The uniform allowances is provided Rs. 20,000 per year.
- Transport allowance:
- Higher TPTA cities: Rs. 7200 + DA per month
- Officers of NDA in Pay Level 14 and above: Rs. 15,750 + DA per month
- Officers working in level 9 or above: Rs. 3600 + DA per month
- Physically disabled service personnel: Rs. 2,250/ + Dearness Allowances
- Dearness Allowances
These allowances are applicable to Civilian Gazetted Officers and are admissible for same conditions.
- Maintenance allowance:
Rs. 400/- p.m. is given for kit maintenance allowance.
- Children Education Allowance
Allowance is given only for the two eldest children only from Nursery up to Class 12th – Rs. 2250 per month.
Field Area Allowance
Officers posted to Field Areas receive highly active Field Area Allowance at the rate of Rs. 16,900/-. Compensatory Field Area Allowance at the rate of Rs. 10500/- p.m. and Compensatory Modified Field Area Allowance at the rate of Rs. 6300/- p.m
Additional Allowances:
Those officers who are posted to the area of height of 9,000 ft and above are provided with High Altitude Allowance in the range of 1,060 p.m. to 11,200 pm depends on area and rank.
Siachen Allowance
Candidates posted to Siachen get paid Rs. 42,500 per month.

An individual starts his career in military as Lieutenant then he gets promoted to Major post and after that to major colonel. After performing at this rank for several years, one gets shifted to Brigadier post. COAS/ Major General are the highest ranks in military.
